President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. This comes after it was revealed in court that her former house helps had stolen 1 million dollars from her home, including millions of cedis.

Cecilia Dapaah had tendered her resignation on Saturday, 22nd July 2023, as Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and as a member of the Government. In her resignation letter, she cited the need to protect the image and standing of the Government as her reason for stepping down.

President Akufo-Addo, in response to her resignation, praised her for her loyalty and dedication to the progress of the Government and the Nation. He expressed his regret at accepting her resignation, noting that her work during her period in Government was excellent and productive.

The President also expressed confidence that Cecilia Dapaah's integrity while in office would be fully established. He wished her the very best in all her future endeavors.

Cecilia Dapaah had been appointed Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources in January 2017, as part of President Akufo-Addo's first-term government. During her tenure, she had overseen several initiatives aimed at improving sanitation and water management in the country.

However, her resignation came as a shock to many, as she had been seen as a competent and dedicated public servant. The revelation that her former house helps had stolen such a large amount of money from her home had sparked public outrage and calls for her resignation.

below is  the President's response to Cecilia Dapaah's resigation
