Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, CEO of the Nduom Group of Companies which previously owned GN Bank, has made serious allegations regarding the bank's closure.

According to Dr. Nduom, the then Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, deliberately orchestrated the shutdown of GN Bank to protect political interests. Nduom claims that Ofori-Atta submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet requesting approval to collapse the bank.

"The memorandum did not consider that GN Bank was the biggest bank with the widest distribution network, and was instrumental in increasing financial inclusion and economic development," Nduom stated. "It simply said these people are causing us problems, and this might affect our political chances, so let's shut it down."

Nduom also alleges that the liquidity crisis leading to GN Bank's collapse was artificially created through the withholding of payments owed to the bank. "He refused to pay us. He paid others, thinking the money would eventually come to me. But I've been telling people that this money belongs to the customers, not me," Nduom added.

Interestingly, Nduom revealed that the Cabinet did not initially agree to Ofori-Atta's proposal to collapse GN Bank. "After Ken Ofori-Atta sent his memo to the Presidency, the Cabinet did not agree they should collapse GN Bank," he concluded.

These are serious allegations from the former GN Bank CEO, suggesting political motives behind the bank's closure and a possible cover-up. The veracity of these claims warrants further investigation and scrutiny.
