In a remarkable show of support for education and technological advancement, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has donated GHC20,000 to the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) Alumni Association. The donation was made during the University’s Alumni Homecoming event, where Hon. Sam George served as the Guest of Honour.

The generous contribution is earmarked for the construction of a modern computer laboratory, a project spearheaded by the GCTU Alumni Association to enhance digital literacy and hands-on training for current students. The lab is expected to serve as a state-of-the-art learning hub, equipping students with the tools and environment necessary to thrive in today’s tech-driven world.

In addition to the donation, the Hon. Minister also assured the University of his commitment to bring the national “One Million Coders” initiative to GCTU. This forward-looking program aims to equip one million young Ghanaians with essential digital skills, and its implementation at GCTU will significantly enhance students' proficiency in coding and other in-demand tech capabilities, boosting their employability and readiness for the digital economy.

The occasion was graced by a host of esteemed alumni and dignitaries, led by the President of the GCTU Alumni Association, H.E. Magdalene Lamptey, alongside other executive members.

Hon. Sam George, in his address, emphasized the importance of investing in technology education and commended the Alumni Association for its forward-thinking initiative. He encouraged alumni and stakeholders to join hands in building a robust digital foundation for the next generation of tech leaders and implementing trainings and mentorship programs for students.
